Author: BRENT WASKO

Central graduate and former running back Philip Harrison is among several area athletes representing Northwest Missouri in today's Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association Missouri versus Kansas all-state game.

Harrison, who rushed for 4,323 yards and scored 53 touchdowns during his high school career, will be joined in the 7 p.m. game at William Jewell College by high school teammate and lineman Ramsey Atieh. Both players will compete at Northwest Missouri State next fall.

In addition, former Platte County players Chris Hawkins, Ryan Weedin and Ben Houpe will compete in the game, contested between the top graduated seniors form the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Central football coach Tony Dudik, who worked as an assistant in the game during the mid-1990s, is the Missouri team's head coach this year. Dudik was chosen to coach by the members of the coaches association.

Lafayette football coach Brian Banker will act as one Dudik's assistants.

Chip Sherman, Platte County's football coach and the all-star game's coordinator, said there might be more Northwest Missouri area athletes competing today and that the rosters weren't entirely set.
